Extractions

There are times when it is necessary to remove a tooth.  Sometimes a baby tooth has long roots that prevent it from falling out as it should, and the tooth must be removed to make way for the permanent tooth to erupt.  At other times, a tooth may have so much decay that it can’t be restored.  These teeth sometimes cause infections to form in the jaw and they need to be extracted so that the infection can resolve and the bone can heal.

Once a tooth has been removed, neighboring teeth may shift, causing a domino effect throughout your mouth.  Because of this we may recommend that you replace the extracted tooth with an implant or bridge or other options.

Dr. Pike, due to his two year advanced general practice residency, (1986-1988 at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, NY), has surgical skills that many general dentists don’t have.  Many of our patients appreciate the fact that they don’t have to be referred out to an oral surgeon for their extractions.
